Introduction

Waseda is a private, independent research university in central Tokyo, founded in 1882. The University is comprised of thirteen undergraduate and twenty graduate & professional schools offering varied and dynamic curricula that cover most areas of the social and natural sciences, as well as liberal arts and engineering.

Waseda University prides itself on being the most international university in Japan. Waseda is currently accommodating more than 7,200 international students- the most of any Japanese university. Our worldwide network has expanded to include 806 institutions in 92 countries and regions, enabling us to exchange personnel and promote cooperation in research and education.

Education

As an action plan for campus globalization, the English based degree programs have been developed. Currently students are able to obtain degrees in English in 7 undergraduate departments and 14 graduate departments.

If your home university is one of our partner universities, exchange program is also available. As of January 2019, our partner universities in Switzerland are University of Basel, University of Geneva, University of Lausanne and University of Zurich (university-wide agreement).

Research

As research oriented university, Waseda is highly regarded worldwide in numerous fields from the social sciences and humanities to science and technology. The database of Waseda researchers is available under http://researchers.waseda.jp/en/ .

Also, if you are interested in a research stay at Waseda, International Scholar Services (ISS) is available. This service provides researchers with a research-related status at Waseda University as well as offers certain necessary services for researchers engaging in educational/research activities at their home academic/research institutions outside Japan.
