A new solution for urban mobility is being developed and was recently presented by ZHAW, Zurich University of Applied Science; the BICAR. It is positioned between the conventional universal vehicle – the car, and the good weather option – the bike. Being compact, electrically powered and protected from the weather, BICAR has been designed to be the ideal urban transportation for anyone.
BICAR is planned to be used in a sharing system. Therefore, the fact that it takes 1/8 the space of a normal parking spot makes it possible to station numerous units in a confined space. With a vehicle weight of less than 70kg and a local emission-free electric drive, BICAR is not only efficient but fun.
ZHAW plans to run a test fleet by 2017 to be used in a sharing operation. Technology providers, researchers, town planners, investors and mobility enthusiasts are invited to give their support to this exciting enterprise.
