We are very proud to announce that not only the Swiss startup Versantis (presented earlier in this blog), but also two other Swiss startups have been selected as finalists for this year’s Pioneers Asia! Versantis as well as BestMile (see below) have been chosen to be included in the ’12 most promising European advanced-stage startups’ of the ‘Pioneers Asia Challenge’. Swie.io (see below) has been nominated as a finalist for the ’90 Seconds Pitch’, the competition for seed and early-stage startups.
While Versantis is ‘saving the lives of liver disease patients’, BestMile offers cloud intelligence for driverless vehicles and Swie.io provides an online platform for the ‘agile manufacturing of electronics’.
BestMile is a Lausanne-based EPFL spin-off incorporated as a start-up in January 2014. Within the short period of time up to now, its list of references is already quite impressive. Projects from Singapore to France are using the autonomous fleet management system of BestMile. Standing out among others, there is a project in Sion, Switzerland: PostBus, one of Switzerland’s major public transport companies, is launching a project in spring 2016, which aims at providing public transportation by autonomous vehicles, depending on BestMile’s cloud intelligence system! First in the world, the two vehicles will operate in the pedestrian area and will be used by the public.
Swie.io is as well headquartered in Lausanne. The start-up offers a platform for agile electronic manufacturing. According to CEO Benjamin Zhai, ‘industrial companies, hardware startups, makers and Open Source Hardware communities can have electronics manufactured 5x faster’ by using their flexible Industry 4.0 solution. Although it is an early-stage startup, Swie.io has already won several awards for its design. The platform works as follows: users register for free, upload their designs, get a quote and a project manager assigned, and finally receive the produced boards fast and easy upon online payment.
All three startups will be present at Pioneers Asia, to be held at Happo-en, Tokyo, Japan, March 22-23, 2016. If you are interested in any of the three startups, please do not hesitate to contact them directly. We wish them all the best and good luck for Pioneers Asia!
