The Science & Technology Office was a Community Partner of the Fin/Sum Week !

The Science and Technology Office was for the first time a Community Partner of the Fintech Summit “FIN/SUM WEEK 2017” which took place in Tokyo from September 19th to September 22nd.

The event was co-organized by Nikkei Shimbun, the Japanese Financial Services Agency and the Fintech Association of Japan, in partnership with Japanese megabanks such as Mitsubishi UFJ and Mizuho.

Start-ups from all over the world came to present their innovative projects in the field combining finance and technology. Some also participated in a pitch-run competition, where they had to convince a jury in less than 10mn that they were the best and most innovative fintech startup! The winner was Tradle, an England-based startup which built a “Know Your Customer” (KYC) network by using the blockchain, in order to give retail, wealth, SME and institutional customers of financial institutions faster access to capital and risk allocation.

Final Pitch Run Nominates

Well-attended workshops and panel discussions were organized during the week. Representatives from big agencies and companies shared their insights on the future of fintech in the banking and financial sectors, while giving some advices built on their own experiences and challenges. Startups and investors also joined the talks, and visitors could thus appreciate a very diverse landscape of professionals.

We are looking forward to the 2018 edition to invite Swiss start-ups to participate in the event next year!
