Thirty-two Swiss universities’ alumni and friends joined the annual Hanami Event in Meguro organized by the Science & Technology Office Tokyo. They were delighted to see each other as well as the beauty of cherry blossoms at its very best time.
After gathering at Nakameguro station, the group went to the crowded Meguro river and enjoyed cherry blossom viewing along both sides. The timing of the event was perfect with the flowers nearly in full bloom and the pleasant weather contributed to the great atmosphere of Japan’s tradition of Hanami.
The group picture was taken in front of the Izakaya Ootaru where the participants could deepen exchanges with familiar and new faces over a light meal. Ootaru’s perfect location allows guests to watch cherry blossoms through the window while chatting with others. Both Swiss and Japanese alumni with diverse backgrounds made full use of this event to broaden their networks and exchange interesting ideas and stories.
