Studying Law both in Switzerland and in Japan

Studying law both in Japan and Switzerland at the same time? – It’s now possible with the “double degree agreement” between the law faculty of Doshisha University and the University of Zurich. The signing ceremony was held in Kyoto!

The dean of the Law Department of the University of Zurich, Prof. Dr. Christian Schwarzenegger, visited Japan to sign the Double Degree Agreement that allows five students a year to study law at the same time in Switzerland and Japan and finally receive a Master’s Degree  from the University of Zurich as well as from the prestigious Japanese Doshisha University in Kyoto.

After the signing ceremony, Prof. Schwarzenegger introduced to a group of about 50 interested students the new agreement.  Mr. Dieter Sommerhalder, Honorary Consul General, gave a captivating speech where he described the first scientific exchange between Switzerland and Japan that had taken place more than 200 years ago. In the end, the head of the Science & Technology Office Tokyo of the Embassy of Switzerland presented a general overview of the Swiss Education System and Swiss higher education.
