Furthermore, in preparation of joint committee meetings or visits, informal discussions were held with South Africa, China, Denmark, Argentina and Israel.

The Global Research Council(GRC was established in May 2012 as a virtual forum that brings together the heads of research councils from around the world, including emerging nations, for the purpose of finding mutually acceptable paths to greater international research collaboration. This year, JSPS is hosting the 4th Annual GRC Meeting in Tokyo, Japan. The National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa is the co-hosting organization while the Japan Science and Technology Agency(JST) and the Department of Science and Technology(DST) of South Africa act as supporting agencies.
