Japanese Universities Introduced to ETH Zurich’s Strategic Financial Management

Dr. Robert Perich, Vice President responsible for finance and controlling at ETH Zurich, was invited to give a key note presentation at the Universities’ Global Strategy Symposium on Strategic University Resource Management – “Diversification” and “Autonomy”, together with the Vice President for Global Engagement of the University of Chicago, Mr. Ian Solomon.

Dr. Perich’s presentation on “How to Organize Strategic and Effective Financial Management: The example of ETH Zurich” was received with strong interest by the approximately 120 representative from different Japanese universities. The second half of the program was a panel discussion with the Director, Private Education Institution Management Division at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Vice President of Waseda University, Prof. Katsuichi Uchida.

The event, organized by IBJ Inc. and sponsored by Mizuho Securities, was the eighth in a series where university leaders and administrators gather to exchange ideas about the challenges facing Japanese universities. Former keynote speakers included executives from Yale University, Princeton University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology MIT, Stanford University and California Institute of Technology Caltech.
