ETH Zurich discusses internationalization with partners in Japan

ETH Zurich‘s Dr. Thomas Eichenberger, Head of Faculty Affairs and Dr. Rahel Byland, ETH Global in charge of Japan, visited Japan to discuss with their partner universities a very relevant and timely topic: Internationalization.

R0005815After visiting several of the top universities for initial discussions, ETH Zurich invited 6 partner institutions to the Embassy of Switzerland where in collaboration with the Science & Technology Office Tokyo and their consultant Boris Dongelmanns a round-table discussion was organized.

The key topic of the round table discussion R0005819was hiring practice for internationalization. Next to language issues among international staff, the social security insurance was identified as being a key element for mobility. Fortunately, Switzerland and Japan have a social security agreement signed in 2010.

The lively and meaningful discussions continued during the social part of the workshop.
