Campus Biotech is a new collaboration entity between the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) and the University of Geneva (UNIGE) in the fields of Bio-inspired technologies and Neuroengineering. The Wyss Foundation and the Bertarelli family financed the acquisition of the site, located in central Geneva, to allow the creation of the shared campus. In addition to research groups from EPFL and UNIGE, around half of the surface will be dedicated to the new Wyss Institute for Bio‐ and Neuro‐ Engineering. The Bertarelli Foundation will contribute its existing EPFL chairs and increase its donation by 2 additional chairs to the Wyss Institute. For the remaining available spaces, Campus Biotech will seek to attract start‐ups, industry and other businesses, which would benefit from this unique scientific and entrepreneurial environment. The main actors concur on the innovative and dynamic environment thus created, bringing new life and fresh investment to the biotechnology sector in the Lake Geneva region and so generate a vast range of opportunities for both scientists and entrepreneurs.
