Alumni of the Swiss Universities in the Kansai Region Event – July 20, 2013
We are pleased to announce that the 2nd annual event for the Alumni of the Swiss Universities in the Kansai Region held in Kyoto was a success. With over 20 participants we had an excellent time in Kyoto visiting the Mitarashi-Festival at the Shimogamo shrine followed by an early dinner at the Izakaya “Yaoki”.
People from very different horizons gathered together and for most of us, met for the first time. Interesting discussions flourished and the whole atmosphere was at the same time animated, joyful and earnest. Students, researchers, artists, professors and firms’ employees were present, and also the former Consul General of Switzerland joined.
Matthias Frey, Head of the Science & Technology Office Tokyo, presented with “old-fashioned” slides an overview of the program of the 150 years of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Japan.
The event was organized by Mr. Daigi Yuta, PhD student at Kyoto University who spent a year at the University of Zurich and by Aurelio Cortese from the Science & Technology Office Tokyo. The gallery below showcases a sample of the event.
